Fake diploma spam (1-954-537-3038, 1-801-461-5023)

Here are some examples of diploma spam that we are seeing in our spam traps recently. I wrote about this type of spam four years ago.

University diplomas advertised in spam, usually only mentioning a contact phone number which takes a voice mail, are not worth the paper they are printed on. People get such diplomas from unaccredited “universities” by paying thousands of dollars, regardless of their academic record. If an employer you’re trying to impress this way is not familiar with the institution and bothers to do a little bit of research they will consider you a highly unethical person they would never want to do business with.

Don’t pay for a fake diploma. You’d get better value for money buying toilet paper (cheaper, softer, does not damage your career).

  1. i want to know more about the online diplomas. i want to confirm that those does not come in the category of fake diplomas.

  2. The site you listed sells fake diplomas. Those diploma spammers don’t sell imitations of diplomas of real schools, but worthless diplomas of fake schools. Neither of them is genuine.

  3. Another one:

  4. Any info on the 310-205-2502 number? They’re forging my email address as the return address of their spam. I’ve got about 30 bounced messages returned to me today that I never sent — and who knows how many actually got through. 310 is LA, within my state, so if anybody can pinpoint an address, I can file a small claims suit against them pretty easily.

One thing I’ve noticed though — 410 is Maryland, and 301 is also Maryland, and I’ve found some reports of the same spam message listing 301-205-2502 as the number to call, so it’s entirely possible these pathetic morons screwed up their own spam messages.

  5. 310-205 is a Pacific Bell number in Beverly Hills. I don’t think the number is a typo – it’s been spamvertized too long for that. I saw the first ad with that number on Dec 29 and the most recent one today.

Usually these numbers are voicemail boxes or voicemail-to-email gateways where the recipient can pick up your voicemail message as an MP3 mailed to their email account somewhere in the world.

410-624-xxxx belongs to Verizon Maryland (as does 301-205-xxxx, in case your suspicion is correct after all).

  6. Hello, I have complete my Btech but the problem is that my degree is not come and also not chances to comes in upcoming next 3 months. Actually I am selected in a company and they require my degree. So I want a fake diploma degree. So is that possible?

  7. This fake diploma site is also forging my e-mail address as the return address of their spam. I work for a large public university and am afraid I could get fired if somebody thinks i am actually sending it.

  8. I just noticed the return path in the header of spam received today:

    “Return-Path: a4w2y-msvsz@skz.or.jp

Coincidently, you are in Japan. Can you check this out?

  9. Return paths in emails can be forged about as easily as sender addresses on postal mail envelopes.

To trace an email you need to look at “Received: from…” lines in the mail headers. However, since most spams are sent from abused third-party computers, such as trojan-infected PCs, even those lines won’t tell you much about who sent the spam or where they are based.

  10. The whole reason these stupid spammers exist is cuz some idiot out there is giving them a paycheck buy buying whatever their hawking. I hate spammers and telemarketers, but I hate the idiots that keep them in business worse.
If People would stop buying their crap, the emails would stop tomorrow.

  11. I got the 1-301-205-2502 variant today. They forged the mail to look like I had emailed myself – duh, like I would even DO that. The IP address data in the headers gave it away – some outfit in Russia. So beware, this is almost certainly an Organized Crime ring operating from Russia with USA based ‘contacts’ on the ground in Maryland / Washington DC area (301 code).
